After a stay of six month in Eivissa, one of the Balearic islands in the Mediterranean sea, Rodríguez-Amat spent the summer in Barcelona. During the months of July and August, his work shows the desire to find a new way to give up the principles he has been using in the Eivissa works. So, the series of works painted in Eivissa was followed by a small series of paintings in which the human form appears and several studies showing the attempt for a non-representational painting.

His firsts attempts at non-representational art had taken place in Barcelona during the summerof the same year. But it was only from his time in Paris that the abstract conception of painting would be a new tool to be used in a natural way.

His return to Paris in September causes the artist to question the spirit and principles that had allowed him to complete the series of painting done in Eivissa and Barcelona. A few months later, Rodríguez-Amat entered into a world in which all these principles would be completely challenged and overturned.
