L’Escala. The way of Empúries. The way of the Dunes

One fine spring day, while walking from Sant Martí d’Empúries to L’Escala along the path of the dunes, I perceived some images that I then mentally translated into graphic forms. At that time and for certain reasons I could not take paper and pen to translate them artistically.

The next day I went back to the same place and captwed those shapes and many others along the way.

The trees were thick with lots of leaves and I decided to translate those images, simplifying and stylizing the shapes, into a set of drawings.

The leitmotif of all this work is a small set of trees and a fence. This fence follows the entire path along both sides in order to preserve the dunes.

The trees have obviously also been stylized by treating the shapes of the trunk with a little foliage. The fences, without representing their entire route, are limited to being another plastic element within each of the drawings. All drawings have been made with Chinese ink on paper.
