SCULPTURES

Two paintings of the year 1980 were the source of a series of sculptures created by Rodríguez-Amat between 1980 and 1982. The images in these two paintings show some women's legs in which the structure of the image is generated by the repetition of the outlines of the forms. Just the desire to put theses images into three dimensional form was the origin of this series of sculptures.

Originally, the first works of this series were just the transposition into three dimensional form of the spirit that the artist created in two dimensional paintings. However, the working process itself brought the artist to start new sculptural works, moving away from the original paintings.

At this time, the creative work of Rodríguez-Amat is characterised by strong erotic components. So, the first sculptures present the same characteristics as the paintings.

The working process was the traditional plaster cast method: after modeling in clay and making plaster moulds, the sculptures were made by filling the moulds with melted bronze.

A few busts and some other sculptures, made at the end of the nineties, make up the whole sculptural works of the artist.
