MARRAN

This series of works was created between the 3rd of February and the 6th of July 2014.

The title given to the series is purely circumstantial and has been a fun game based on the shortening of the Catalan word “marranades” which means filthy, marred, nasty and so on.

The motifs of all these works is absolutely free and at any time there they taken from the perception of anybody or any object of the world. However, in many of these works some of the shapes can be intuited as the representation of some kind of bodies or heads. Anyway, these shapes have never been taken from a visual perception of real human beings.

Technically, these works are made on cardboard with different kinds of painting materials, so they should be considered mixed techniques. Among the materials used in these works, it is worth mentioning charcoals, pigments, latex, watercolors, varnishes, lacquer gum, uric acid, all of them fixed with some kind of varnish.

One of the characteristics that the artist himself wants to consider these works is the absolute freedom, both, at the time of starting the work and also during the process of creation.

In many of these works, the black color determines the values of all other chromatic shapes, as well as being the defining element of the forms.

All the works, with a similar format, vary around 45 cm x 30 cm.
